Terms for free student sound support
|
| For large shows we require that you schedule a meeting with our sound coordinator to plan your show's setup out. There could be a lot of practical limitations on your ideas, but there's usually a way to make any idea a reality with the proper planning. It may be a good idea to schedule this appointment before you submit a sound request. |
| Please be sure to refer all speakers to our microphone guidelines, and all performers to our sound check guidelines. ANYONE who will be speaking over our system should read the microphone guide. This includes keynote speakers, MC's, etc. Far too often important speeches are almost completely inaudible because of poor microphone technique. We do our best to turn up the mic level, but we're fighting a losing battle with the laws of physics. There's only so much we can do to fix the speech of someone with bad microphone technique, so please help us out. This is for the sake of your show. |
| I am aware that a noise variance form must be submitted to the city of Portland for any event outdoors. This is the responsibility of the event organizer and noise variance approval must be forwarded to PSPS before sound support will be provided (city fines aren't fun). |
| I will include PSPS's logo (right click, save file as) in my advertisements for this event, and a link to PSPS's website on any electronic promotional material. Please let us know if there's some reason you don't feel this is appropriate for your event, but if at all possible, help us keep the student body aware that we exist, and that we're here to help for free. |
| If this event is off campus, I agree to pay the costs of transporting PSPS's equipment and personnel to and from the event. |
| I have reserved the venue, allowing 5 hours setup time for large shows, 3 hours for medium shows, and one hour for small shows. Click for how we determine Event Size. |
| I am aware that Portland State Professional Sound reserves the right to cancel services for any outdoor event due to weather. |
